Old School

This week's prompts make me nothing short of crazy nostalgic.

And because I don't really want to talk about my past crushes, I've never broken a bone, I haven't been able to find time to be crafty this summer, and Massey won't let me have a pet, I'm going to list the 5 Best Things About Going Back to School. Because let's be honest. I wish I was going back to school. Totally.

1. New outfit! I always got a new outfit for the first day back to school. Even in college. Even after having Lydia. My favorite was one that my godmother, Dabney, bought for me. It was super special because it was from Limited Too. Holy Cow. It was a purple and lime green plaid, pleated skirt with a purple sweater/shirt that can only be described as...fluffy. Like, soft AstroTurf...if that's possible. I wore SOCKS (yuck) with my boat shoes that I'd tied crazy style. I felt like the bees knees. I also sweat to death in that damn shirt. But I looked good doing it.

2. New notebooks! I still love having a reason to pick out a new notebook. I mean, one of the highlights of going to my conference earlier this summer was definitely getting to buy a notebook and new pens.

3. Writing on the first page of a clean notebook. Don't laugh. I love it. I like to color code my days/lectures too. Don't hate.

4. Syllabus day! At least in College...the first week is, well, a big, fat joke. You meet your professors, make sure you have your books, and then peace out. 90 minutes goes by incredibly quickly when you're only there for 15! There were also always great "welcome" back...festivities during the first week back. Not that I'd know anything about that...

5. Learning. Have I mentioned I went to W&M? And Massey and I are both huge nerds?? We were also a Public Policy and Government major respectively, so conversations got pretty intense. It was also awesome because we could discuss our classes and learn more...we frequently were known to voluntarily read each others readings. Poor Lyd. We're probably destin to read her readins with her just for conversations sake. But truly I love a good discussion, and I love learning. I even love writing a paper because it menas I get to research and learn more. I also love that moment mid-paper when you know you've really hit a homerun and you've thought of something out of this world. Usually this happens at o'dark thirty after consumming entirely too much caffeine...and procrastinating.
